Terri Wingham is the founder and executive director of A Fresh Chapter Alliance Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to healing the emotional scars of cancer by blending meaningful volunteer travel with programs designed to reframe adversity, foster connections, and promote personal growth and development.
A breast cancer diagnosis at age 30 changed Terri forever, transporting her from corporate life to a foreign world of chemotherapy and surgeries. Emotionally and physically drained after her last surgery, but uninterested in the typical support group environment, she signed up for a volunteer trip to Africa.
Six weeks volunteering at an underfunded daycare in the Townships of Cape Town helped Terri to see that struggle is universal – and inspired her to provide individuals deeply impacted by cancer the opportunity to expand their focus beyond the disease and discover new purpose in their lives.
Terri has contributed to Huffington Post and is the founder of A Fresh Chapter, an online community where she and others write about global volunteering, meaningful travel and the highs and lows of pursuing a dream. Previous speaking engagements include Stanford’s MedicineX conference, the keynote for Young Adult Cancer Canada (YACC) National Conference, as well as cancer-related survivor events and fundraising galas.
Terri is a committed global health advocate and cancer support innovator who speaks frequently about topics related to using adversity as a catalyst for growth. Terri holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Entrepreneurship from Royal Roads University in Vancouver, Canada.
