DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin Gretchen Laporta LCSW to learn the therapeutic art of mindful doodling with Zentangle®!  No art experience or “artistic talent” needed because it’s based on the letters i\,c\,s and o.  We write these comfortably every day!  You will be led step by step making these familiar strokes to create amazing patterns.   \n\nZentangle® mindful doodling is beneficial for: \no Cultivating a mindful approach to life\no Self-soothing/relaxation\no Inner reflection\no Gaining satisfaction/pride from rapid improvement as the patterns become familiar\no The power of being a creator \no Filling your time with something positive while waiting at appointments (because it travels so well)\no Teaches acceptance\, allowing and surrender.  Through our “no mistakes” philosophy.  It is not about perfection!\no An inexpensive new hobby\no Fosters gratitude toward self and others\no Can be given away as random acts of kindness \no Something new and interesting to talk about with others \no Beautiful art to display and share!\n\nWhat will you learn in this class? \nYou will be learning 4 basic patterns to start your Zentangle® journey.  These will be taught as a formula.  Stroke by stroke we will slowly walk through each pattern and practice together. These are foundational tangles that will help build confidence when learning more complex patterns in the future.  You will also learn to shade your tangle so that it has amazing dimension.  We will also play with creating your artist chop.  This will be your unique way of signing your art because you are now an artist! \n\nWhat you need: \nThe tools for the class can be as simple as: something to write with and a piece of paper.  However\, I would recommend a felt tip pen\, a pencil\, a Qtip or tissue for blending and blank sheets of paper (printer paper is great).  You can also mix an match items in this list if you have some of the fancy items below. \n\nAlthough\, if you want to get a bit fancy you can purchase a black Sakura Micron PN (plastic nib if you are prone to pressing down hard) OR a Sakura Micron 01 (felt tip)\, a graphite pencil\, a blending stump or tortillon\, and a traditional 3.5 inch Zentangle® tile or a sheet of watercolor paper.  Zentangle.com and Amazon have these resources available.
